Something to Share
By Philip Milam

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. Indeed, God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. John 3:16-17

David always sat in the front row of the church. All of the children would gather around him, and when he saw them coming, he would reach into his pocket and pull out a handful of quarters. One for each and every child. No matter how many children were in church that Sunday, David always had enough quarters for them all.

One Sunday I noticed a small child who silently sat next to David in that front row throughout the service. No words were exchanged, but then the collection plate went by, the small boy placed his quarter in the plate. No one had told him to do it, he just wanted to share his gift.

This Easter season, as we reflect on the gift of God's son, we should keep in mind how freely God gave us this tremendous gift; how abundant it is, how little we did to deserve it, and how rich it makes usrich enough even to share it. Indeed God gives to us like David gave to the children. Some more appreciative than others for the gift, and some with greater understanding of its value than others. Still he gave freely. And no matter how many children God has, there is always enough of his gift of love. Once we receive God's abundant love, we, like the little boy, should share generously. Then we may receive an even greater giftthe gift of joy that God gives us when we give as He has given to us.

What have you done today to share God's love with someone else?

LOVE SCRIPTURES
The LORD, hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love; therefore, with loving-kindness have I drawn thee. -- Jeremiah 31:3

And hope maketh not ashamed, because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who is given unto us. For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth His love toward us in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. -- Romans 5:5- 8

But after the love of God, our Savior, toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Spirit, which He shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ, our Savior, that, being justified by His grace, we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. -- Titus 3:4-7

Crumb Donor Program

Dear Community of Christ Family
As part of the disciple's generous response, Cedar Ridge Congregation has allotted 10% of it's operating fund as a congregational tithe. The Congregational Tithing committee met in April to decide how these funds should be directed. For January, February and March 2004, SafeHaven Shelter, Crumb Donor Program (this link will open in a new browser window) in Chattanooga and Second Harvest Food Bank will be receiving gifts from Cedar Ridge Congregation.

For April, May and June, SafeHaven Shelter, Second Harvest Food Bank and a new School Sponsorship Program (which will provide school supplies for students in need) will receive gifts.

We are reminded every day of the incredible talents, gifts and wealth with which we are blessed in this nation. The programs listed above will benefit from the response of the Community of Christ in Nashville.

Thank you for your continued offering and tithes as we reach out to our Community and respond to those in need.

Travis Koehler - Congregational Tithing Committee
